Oh hey there!

Remember me?! I've been super slacking on blog posts lately AND....I have zero excuse...well if life being completely unexciting is an excuse well then yes actually I do have one!

I haven't done much new cooking (shrimp cornbread**SO YUMMY** and chicken and dumplings but of course I didn't take any pictures of them, so that's not exciting!) Tomorrow I'm going to make a "Steakhouse Pizza" and I'm super hopeful that it turns out delicious!! I'll definitely snap some pictures of that!

My roommate is thinking about adopting a chocolate lab from the shelter around here, which I LOVE dogs, but I really don't love all the dog hair everywhere, which is why I myself haven't picked one out of the shelter. He's 3 years old, has no name (Sad :( ) and is already house trained (But if for some reason that part isn't true I already have sworn promises that he will clean up all the dogs messes...yea right).

But I promise I'll have an update for you guys soon, a really good one, with lots of pictures!

Ready to get really emotional and sappy for a second?

My roommate Brian used to be a sniper for the US Marines, while in Afghanistan he made a lot of great and lifelong friends...Robert Gilbert or "Gil", as Brian called him, was one of them.

Last night Brian told me that because of facebook (which he had just created 2 days before) he decided to look up his old friend and see what he had been up to. Unfortunately rather then reconnecting with a friend, he found out his friend had died...over a year ago...in Afghanistan.

Brian had sent him e-mails and never heard back, but he had never heard from anyone else that anything had happened to him.

He shared the story with me and just reading it made me burst into tears, I found another article that is just as heart wrenching. He died on his 28th birthday. Please read this story:

If you haven't taken the time to thank a soldier, please do, they truly sacrifice everything for our country and it is so heartbreaking to hear about outcomes like this.

I just thank God that my brother was never seriously injured or hurt while he served in Iraq and that my sweet little Bri-nasaur made it back from Afghanistan safely as well.

(my brother Tony)

I wish the war was over, but while we still have American soldiers over there I hope each of you take the time to thank them and count your blessings!!
